Cat {Tulsa pin up and burlesque photographer}

I wanted to share a few photos from my shoot with Cat earlier this year.  We had a great time at her shoot, she's so fun to spend time with, and she brought donuts with her to the studio, so of course she made me love her instantly.  Cat is a burlesque dancer, performer, and all around cool chick who runs a Tulsa tattoo shop with her equally awesome husband Eric. Make sure to check them out at Tattoo Mysterium on Cherry Street!

Sara Saint Sin's shoot at Mercury Lounge {Tulsa pin up photography}

Oh me oh my I've fallen behind on blogging! My apologies! Time to catch up! I worked with so many lovely ladies over the last few months, I need to get to sharing them!

Let's start with Sara Saint Sin.  She had an awesome idea for a shoot, and we decided that Tulsa's Mercury Lounge, which is an awesome bar that hosts so many great acts, would be the perfect setting! I just love working with Sara and am so thankful that she continues to choose me to shoot her! Make sure you give her some love over on her Facebook page

I'm also happy to say that this shoot was published in the October 2013 issue of Garters and Grills Magazine! Sara got a page all to herself and it looks great!

If you want a fun shoot, contact me! I love trying out new ideas and locations!

Meet Tulsa's Most Deserving Woman - Jennie! {Oklahoma pin up photography}

Last month I participated in an awesome contest, and it was so fun! It was the Tulsa's Most Deserving Woman Contest, held by the awesome Cherry Street shop, Bubble Boutique and Gifts.  Basically women in the Tulsa area could be nominated to win this contest by friends and family for being an all around great person.  The winner was Jennie! She's a really sweet gal who does tons of volunteer work, works hard to support the causes she feels strongly about, and always is happy to help out friends and family. Her prize was a day of pampering that began with choosing a new dress, shoes and accessories from Bubble, getting a manicure and a cut, color and cute vintage hairstyle at Rick Craig Salon and professional makeup application by Ashlee Bivins.  Then she got to show off her new look in a photo shoot with me! We had a fantastic time and got some really great photos! Jennie was a natural when it comes to pinup!

Another great shoot with Lollie Pop! {Tulsa pinup photography}

 I had the chance to shoot with Lollie again recently and I must say that I absolutely adore working with this gal.  It's so great getting to know repeat clients better and I love when someone loves their photos from me so much that they come back for more! We did a few different outfits and sets that day.  I think my favorite was the adorable sailor suit that Lollie brought in.  I love how these photos turned out!

We also did a vintage mug shot set! These are so fun to shoot and a really great chance to do something creative and a little different from traditional pin up portraits!

The greatest news is that a couple of the photos from our sailor set were published in the July military tribute edition of Drive-In Magazine! There's still time to order a copy for yourself! Click here to buy yours!

Want to book your own pinup shoot? I love helping people take their ideas and make great photos out of them! Email me at to book your session!

Toni's pin up shoot at the Stray Kat 500 {Oklahoma Car Show Pinup Photographer}

Do you know I have a special package for car show photo shoots? If you want a really cool setting for your pinup photo shoot a vintage car show is a really great option. Miss Toni approached me at the Stray Kat 500 in Dewey, OK to do a photo shoot with her in front of some of the cars at the show.  It was so cold but she rocked it! Interested in doing a shoot at a car show for yourself? Email me at and we'll discuss how I can meet you at a local car show for a fun pinup photo shoot!

Bootleg Betty's Vintage Mug Shot photo shoot {Tulsa Pin Up Photography}

Shoots with Bootleg Betty are so fun.  She's a repeat client who always comes to me with really creative ideas for new photos.  I LOVE when someone has a fun idea and we work together to make it happen! This shoot was inspired by vintage mugshots.  If you do a google image search for vintage mugshots the results are pretty fascinating.  I especially love the ones of women from the 50's and 60's.  Mug shots these days just don't compare to those old ones!

We did this photo shoot at my studio in downtown Tulsa.  It was fun watching her change her look for each new "arrest." Doing this shoot was super fun, and I offer a mug shot shoot for anyone else who would like to recreate vintage mugshots! Just email me at for details! Make sure you check out Bootleg Betty's facebook page and give her some love! She's a really great pinup model and I'm sure we'll work together more in the future!

Where can I buy clothes for my pin up shoot?

Getting a true pinup look to your photos comes down to a few things: the outfit and accessories you choose, and vintage style hair and makeup.  If you're not sure about vintage style hair and makeup, I have really great hair and makeup artists that can help you with that before your shoot.  As for the outfit, a cute vintage style dress or outfit, a retro bathing suit, or some sexy 50's style lingerie will set the pinup mood.  Accessories help a great deal as well.  Vintage style jewelry, hats, scarves and shoes can really make a picture pop! And stockings and garters.  Always stockings and garters.  The nice thing about pinup is that you can be as modest or as revealing as you want and still look amazing!

One of the questions that I most often hear from clients that are booking pinup shoots is "Do you provide outfits?"  Currently, the answer to that is mostly no. Right now there are just too many sizes, shapes, and personal tastes for me to accommodate them all.  Plus, bringing in an outfit and accessories that you've chosen is the best way to let your personality shine through in your pin up photos! I do have an ever-growing collection of vintage props and accessories that I'm happy to bring in for shoots.  When you book a session and we start planning what kind of theme you want it helps me know what to bring, and I can give you advice on what kind of outfit you might want to look for if you're not sure.

So, where can you buy vintage or vintage look clothing, shoes, and accessories? Since I collect vintage everything, I know of quite a few places! And for even more sources, I recently asked on my facebook page and got some great answers from some of the awesome pinup ladies on there!

My #1 source for great actual vintage items takes some patience, but is the least expensive.  I love hitting garage sales and thrift stores.  You usually have to go in with a bit of knowledge about vintage fashion, and plan to spend some time digging and examining labels.  This kind of stuff is exciting for me and feels like a treasure hunt!

In the Tulsa area there are a few stores that specialize in vintage clothing.  If you're looking for new modern pinup or rockabilly style clothing, Bubble Boutique on Cherry Street is the place to go. They carry a great selection of popular brands of shoes and clothes like Pinup Couture, Sourpuss and Too Fast.  They also have a great selection of consignment items that are vintage or pinup style. A long time favorite of mine for true vintage is Cheap Thrills. They are full of some really great vintage clothing and every once in awhile they have really big half off sales.  Also, right now the pinup look is gaining popularity, so it's a great time for die hard pinup girls and rockabillies to check out the "regular" stores to add to their wardrobe.  Models have mentioned getting great finds at places like Ross and Hot Topic recently, and I noticed some really cute vintage looking corsets and garter belts at Target the other day.

There are also plenty of really great sources online: Modcloth, Pin Up Girl Clothing, Unique Vintage, Bettie Page Clothing,  Starlets & Harlots, and What Katie Did are all shops that receive great feedback from clients of mine.  There are so many more sources out there.  Great search terms to use when you're looking online are things like "vintage", "mid-century", or "rockabilly."

And don't forget Etsy! There are tons of vintage items on there! Just start searching and you can get lost for hours. I have a shop on there selling vintage items and occasionally clothes, shoes and other accessories make their way into the shop. My shop name is Pretties by Liz.

I hope this helps all the lovely gals out there that are looking for places to shop! When you're ready to book your pinup session, email me at and we'll start planning for the greatest shoot ever!

2014 Update:  If you choose to go to Bubble Boutique for your outfit, make sure to let them know that I sent you and that you're shopping for a Pinup by Liz shoot! Zoe can help you pull together an outfit from head to toe that will be great for a pinup style shoot!

Mrs. M {Northeast Oklahoma vintage pinup photography}

Mrs. M drove all the way from Arkansas to my studio in Tulsa just for a shoot with me! What a major compliment, and no pressure on me, right?  She brought along some beautiful retro outfits and a really great vintage suitcase collection to use as props, and we got some great photos! Faccia Bella came to my studio and did her hair and makeup, and they did a great job as always! Mrs. M was doing these portraits as a surprise one year anniversary gift to her husband.  I often get clients doing pinup, boudoir, or lingerie photo shoots as a surprise for their significant other and it's so fun getting to be a part of the secret! We got some really great photos, and I'm sure her husband was just as happy with them as we were!

I was so happy that Mrs. M found me awesome enough to drive 2 hours for, but I will also travel for photo shoots! If you and at least 3 other friends want to set up a day of back to back photo shoots, I'll come to you! Email me for package and pricing details at

Lollie Pop

I recently had the privilege of shooting the pink haired beauty, Miss Lollie Pop inside her new tattoo shop, Blackheart13 Tattoo & Piercing Studio in Owasso, OK.  This shoot was inspired by the vintage bondage photos that photographer Irving Klaw shot of Bettie Page, and some of these poses were definitely out of my usual realm, but working out of your box is a good thing, right? I had so much fun doing this photo shoot and I'm really happy with the photos that resulted out of it! Lollie also brought along her friend who made a fantastic "prop" and deserved a photo of her own!

Both Good Lollie/Bad Lollie made appearances at the shoot!
